Barry Selman, LCSW
Barry Selman, LCSW has over 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist. Originally from NYC he and his wife Madeline moved to Chapel Hill 6 years ago. After receiving his B.S. and M.S.W. degrees from Columbia University he trained in Psychodynamic, Family Systems and Experiential Psychotherapies. Since 1992 he has been in personal therapy and training with Stuart Alpert, ACSW, D.Psy., the co-developer of Body Centered Gestalt Therapy at the Hartford Family Institute. Barry is a certified Grief and Thanatology Counselor and has led several short and long-term Grief Support Groups as well as presenting workshops to the general public and to mental health professionals. Spiritual practice, including meditation and prayer have played an important part of his life and work for the past 40 years. He is a member of NASW, the Carolinas Group Psychotherapy Society and the American Academy of Psychotherapists.
