Together, We are Stronger.
Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the USA. Over 45,000 people die each year, 5 people every hour, 123 people every day. It’s an epidemic.
Those left behind in the aftermath of a suicide are not alone. Fellow survivors know and experience the enduring pain and trauma of losing a loved one to suicide. Together, we find comfort with other survivors. And, as a community, we support each other as we struggle with this horrific loss.
“On September 16, 2003, I lost my father to suicide. On December 11, 2007, I lost my mother to suicide. By not dealing with their deaths and trying to push the pain away, I allowed myself to be engulfed by emptiness, despair, and darkness for nearly two years.
Triangle SOS was the beacon of light that helped me come to terms with their deaths, and more importantly, with myself. I credit this organization with helping me make peace with myself, and being the pivot point in my life that made life enjoyable again.”
“On December 14, 1994, my life was forever changed when I lost my firstborn and only son, Robert, to suicide. I did not think I could go on during those early, dark hours. I was filled with questions, despair and hopelessness. The guilt associated with the suicide of a loved one is all-consuming. Life stopped for all of us – me, my husband and my daughter. TriangleSOS became my life-line in a world that was out of focus. Being with people who were all experiencing the same loss helped me face life again. Once a week I was with people that understood where I was and what I was going through. I have volunteered with this organization for many years because I want to give back a portion of what I have received and be a small part of the efforts of so many to STOP SUICIDE. My prayer is that no other mother ever suffer this devastating and preventable loss.”
